Which log transformation to use for moderately skewed data with zero values

@sajjid wrote:

Hello,

I am geospatially analyzing a school district’s data that includes a variety of variables such as salary, turnover percentage, number of schools within district, students count, etc. Some of these variables are positively/negatively skewed with moderate or substantial skewness. Also, there are zero values in some of these variables.

Questions: Which log transformation should I used for the following:

  1. Substantially positive skewed data that includes zero values
  2. Moderately positive skewed data that includes zero values
  3. substantially positive skewed data without zero values
  4. moderately positive skewed data without zero values
  5. Substantially negative skewed data that includes zero values
  6. Moderately negative skewed data that include zero values
  7. substantially negative skewed data without zero values
  8. moderately negative skewed data without zero values

Any help on the above questions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sajjid
